Gender Compass: Stage 2

Graphic of a compass with the words trailblazer, hopeful, moderate, conflicted, indifferent and rejector
Plan International Australia, 2025

Led by WLIA Fellow Dr Rebecca Huntley, Gender Compass is a groundbreaking tool that splits the Australian community into six distinct groups based on their attitudes to gender equality.

Stage 2 of Gender Compass is here, and it delves deeper into the six segments, to get to the heart of who they are. What factors shape their beliefs? How can we best engage them on the issue of gender equality?

Since its launch, Gender Compass has been embraced by advocates across government, nonprofit and corporate sectors and is playing an essential role in helping to shift harmful attitudes by guiding effective communication with different sections of the community.

Ultimately, Gender Compass supports advocates with evidence to help create a more gender-equal world.
