Victorian Local Governance Association, 2019

This highly practical toolkit from the Victorian Local Governance Association (VLGA) is designed to equip women with the tools they need when considering running in local government elections. Authored by Pathways to politics alums.

The VLGA is an independent not-for-profit peak body for councils and councillors. In the lead up to each council election cycle, they provide training to equip candidates with the tools that they need to run a successful campaign and prioritise good governance should they be elected.

Topics covered in the toolkit include: the role of a councillor, how local government elections work, what makes a good councillor, developing your platform, campaign management and communications.
